Dennis R. Getto 1949-2007 Dennis knew no boundaries when he was enthusiastic about something. His enthusiasm was broad-ranging and affected many of the people in his life, from the spiritual solace he found in his faith to his love of food to the dedication to his friends exemplified by how much of himself he put into the gifts he gave them. He meticulously sought unique gifts to commemorate special occasions, but the best gift he gave was the gift of friendship. Although many people knew him as the quintessential source of information about Milwaukee’s restaurants, others knew him as a fishing buddy or a dream partner or a basket maker or a journalism professor or gardener or food aficionado or astrological resource. Dennis was my greatest supporter of my photography. He would patiently sit through image after image when I’d return from an adventure. I would mention a gadget that I’d heard about, and it would appear as a birthday gift or under the Christmas tree. He was generous with both his praise and very candid criticism. Most of all, he encouraged me to pursue my dream. Where ever you are, Dennis…….I thank you with all my heart!
