Portrait or Personal Image - Marcia L Getto

Artist’s Statement

A common thread throughout my work in nature photography is the element of subtle surprise and mystery, both in how the subject calls to me and how I present it to you, my audience. I want to take you to the spiritual place where I was when these images captured me and guide you to see something you might not have otherwise experienced. Each image has its own personality, and the decisions I make about the final processing of the image are a combination of the image’s personality and my own interpretation. When I’m in my digital darkroom, I revisit how I felt when making the image, whether it was a moody situation or joyful, warm or cool, solitary or shared. This feeling carries through as I meticulously print, mat and frame each image with archival quality materials.
